Courses Available At Bike Sense

Bike Sense are proud to offer a number of proven courses for novice riders through to those who have been riding for many years. Whatever your level of experience, take your skills to the next level with one of our professional DSA approved courses.

Compulsory Basic Training (CBT)
All learners must complete a CBT course before riding a moped or motorcycle on the road. The CBT certificate must be presented before a Practical Test can be taken.
Bike Sense runs a number of CBT courses based on rider requirements.

33 BHP Course
A learner motorcycle rider under 21 has the option to take two types of practical test:
1. Sub-category A1 light motorcycle which allows you to ride motorcycles up to 125cc (11kW / 14.6bhp), or
2. The standard category A2 which allows you to ride any motorcycle with a power output of up to 25kW (33bhp) and a power to weight ratio not exceeding 0.16kW / kg. The test will be taken on a 125cc motorcycle and having passed you will be restricted to motorcycles with a maximum output of 33bhp for two years.

Direct Access
Those who do not already hold a full motorcycle licence may, after taking a CBT and Theory Test, take the practical test on a motorcycle with a power output of at least 35kW (46.6bhp).
This will entitle you to ride any motorcycle. Our Direct Access is the best way to go to get ahead into unrestricted motorcycling.

Race & Track Days
Ever fancied a day on the race track? Bike Sense will arrange a day of learning the core techniques for track racing, safely and competently. Every thing is under close supervision from our Head instructor, Martin Wright, a racer himself.

Important Notes:
  • Deposits are non returnable unless a good reason or adequate prior notice of any inability to attend a course is given.
  • At least 12 clear working days are required if a course cancellation is requested.
    Any cancellation after this time will incur a 25% cancellation fee.
  • Credit card payments are accepted with an administration charge.
  • Please note that use of a Bike Sense bike includes fully comprehensive insurance cover with a £200 pounds excess.
